Understanding Chanson Pere et Fils, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, Burgundy
At the heart of Chanson Père & Fils' approach is a dedication to sustainable viticulture and an intimate connection with the land. The distinctive qualities of the Charmes-Chambertin terroir, characterised by its favourable exposure and diverse soil composition, are expertly captured through careful vineyard management and a philosophy that emphasises terroir expression over interventionist winemaking techniques. After a whole cluster fermentation, a step that promotes fruit concentration and purity, the wines are aged for 14 to 18 months. This stage enhances the wine’s aromatic complexity and depth without overshadowing the fruit's natural vibrancy. This Charmes-Chambertin features intense ripe, dark fruit, floral notes, spice and earth in a lush, velvety palate with fine tannins and a lively acidity. This wine has impressive cellaring capacity.
