Drouhin-Vaudon, Chablis Grand Cru, Bougros, Burgundy
An introduction to Drouhin-Vaudon, Chablis Grand Cru, Bougros, Burgundy
The Domaine Drouhin Vaudon Bougros Grand Cru is sourced from a small 0.3-hectare plot, planted with Chardonnay vines in the Grand Cru Bougros vineyard. The position of the vineyard on the lower slopes of the Chablis hillside and its subsequently more clay-dominant soil type yields wines of greater weight and mouthfeel than many of its other Grand Cru neighbours. This characteristic is notable in this cuvée by Domaine Drouhin Vaudon, with the wine displaying a very gourmand character of mid-palate breadth and showing fine, ripe fruit flavours and richer marmalade notes.

Understanding Drouhin-Vaudon, Chablis Grand Cru, Bougros, Burgundy
The vines for the Drouhin Vaudon Bougros cuvée are farmed biodynamically. Only plant sprays made from organic ingredients are used to prevent rot and mildew, and all vineyard work is done by hand. The grapes are hand-harvested and lightly pressed, with only the heart (the middle pressings) of the juice retained for fermentation. Following fermentation, the wine is racked and matured in neutral French oak barrels for 12 months. The result is a particularly food-friendly wine that is demonstrative of its terroir and vintage expression, and which will cellar well for a decade or more.
