An introduction to Domaine William Fevre, Chablis Premier Cru, Montee de Tonnerre, Burgundy
Domaine William Fevre’s Montée de Tonnerre cuvée is sourced from a selection of parcels spread across the Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre vineyard. The majority of the fruit comes from the lieu-dit of Pied d’Aloue at the top of the slope, with the rest from Chapelot and Cote de Bréchain. The similar geology to the Grand Cru sites just to the north, and the vineyard’s aspect produce critically acclaimed wines of great elegance. The minerality so typical of this terroir is exemplified in this striking wine from William Fevre.

Understanding Domaine William Fevre, Chablis Premier Cru, Montee de Tonnerre, Burgundy
The vines that comprise the Montée de Tonnere bottling by William Fevre are on average 50 years old and farmed sustainably. The fruit is hand-picked and manually sorted prior to pressing and fermentation in a stainless steel vats and neutral French oak barrels (up to 40%). Élevage is conducted with lees contact to promote texture and ensure successful malolactic fermentation. The result is a Premier Cru Chablis that punches well above its weight, with the ability to develop promisingly with ten years of careful cellaring.
