A brief history of Chateau L'Argilus du Roi, Saint-Estephe, Bordeaux

Located in the prestigious Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château L'Argilus du Roi was established in 1996 by the winemaking team that worked for the Rothschild estates. In 2010, aeronautic and defense firm, ARINC SA bought the majority share and, since that time, its president Martial Mignet has been at the helm. The vineyard's strategic location, bordered by some of the most legendary estates in Bordeaux, benefits from an ideal microclimate and a rich tapestry of soils, contributing to the distinctive character of its wines. While the house may not carry the same historical weight as some of its more ancient neighbours, its rapid ascent to acclaim is a testament to the exceptional quality of its wines and it’s widely regarded as a worthy rival of their labels. The estate spans a five-hectare vineyard, with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented by smaller plots of Petit Verdot and Malbec. This careful selection of varietals reflects the estate's dedication to capturing the quintessential Saint-Estèphe profile in its wines.
