Understanding Chateau La Gomerie, Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux
The viticultural and winemaking philosophy at Château La Gomerie is grounded in a commitment to excellence and sustainability. The estate adopts an environmentally responsible approach, employing sustainable practices to maintain the health and vitality of the vineyard, and by extension, the quality of the grapes. This philosophy extends through to the winery, where innovative techniques are balanced with traditional methods to capture the essence of the Merlot grape in its purest form. Fruit is harvested by hand to guarantee only the finest berries are vinified. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel to preserve fruit purity. The wine ages in new French oak, a stage that imparts complexity while still allowing the fruit flavour to shine through. Château La Gomerie displays black fruit, chocolate, a hint of spice, vanilla and toast in a finessed, well-structured palate with elegant tannins. This wine has considerable cellaring potential.
