A brief history of Chateau Cadet-Piola Grand Cru Classe, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux

Château Cadet-Piola, situated in the Saint-Émilion appellation of Bordeaux, has a history that illustrates the region's deep-rooted winemaking traditions. Although the château’s final vintage was in 2011 following a merger, it boasts a rich heritage that contributes significantly to the tapestry of Bordeaux wines. The Cadet-Piola vineyard remains one of the appellation’s best-kept secrets. In 2009, Château Cadet Piola was sold by the Jabiol family to La Mondiale, the French insurance group, a company that owns several other vineyards across Bordeaux. Château Cadet Piola was merged with its neighbour Château Soutard, also owned by La Mondiale, after the outcome of the 2012 St. Emilion Classification. The seven-hectare vineyard of Cadet Piola is planted mostly to Merlot followed by Cabernet Sauvignon (the highest proportion across the Right Bank), Cabernet Franc and Malbec.
