A brief history of Chateau Belair-Monange Premier Grand Cru Classe B, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux

Château Bélair-Monange merges the histories of two of Saint-Émilion's oldest wine estates: Château Bélair and Château Magdelaine. The former traces its roots to Roman times, while the latter's history as a vineyard began in the 16th century. Under the JP Moueix family, who purchased Château Bélair in 2008 and amalgamated it with their estate of Magdelaine in 2012, the château was renamed Bélair-Monange, in honor of Anne-Adèle Monange, the first woman from the family to settle in Saint-Émilion in 1931. This fusion has solidified the château's reputation, emphasizing its long-standing tradition and innovation within the region's esteemed winemaking community.
