Located in Pomerol on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, Domaine Trigant de Boisset is deeply embedded in the fabric of Pomerol's winemaking heritage, with many name changes along the way. Established in the mid-19th century by the Trigan de Boisse family, the estate has undergone several transformations, both in name and terroir, reflecting its enduring legacy and adaptability. Originally known as La Grave, due to its distinctive calcareous soils, the estate's name and soil composition have evolved, marking its journey through time. In the 1940s, the estate name changed to Chateau La Grave a Pomerol Trigant de Boisset. In 1971, the Jean-Pierre Moueix Vins firm bought the property. In the 1980s, a pivotal exchange with sandy parcels from Château La Fleur Petrus, under the same Moueix family ownership, introduced new dimensions to the winery’s terroir. This blend of calcareous and sandy soils has enriched the complexity and depth of the estate's wines, bridging its historical roots with a forward-looking vision. The enduring legacy of the Trigan de Boisse family, preserved on the label, serves as a reminder of Château La Grave's deep historical roots and its evolution through the ages.

Situated on the western slope of the Pomerol plateau, the estate encompasses eight hectares of land, a testament to the Moueix family's dedication to preserving and enhancing the estate's viticultural heritage. The varied soil composition, combining calcareous and sandy elements, offers a unique foundation for the cultivation of Merlot, the predominant varietal, complemented by Cabernet Franc. The first label is celebrated for its elegance, balance and aromatic complexity. The interplay of calcareous and sandy soils imbues the wines with a distinctive minerality and depth, harmoniously integrated with the plush, velvety texture typical of Merlot.

Understanding Domaine Trigant de Boisset, Pomerol, Bordeaux
The estate's approach to winemaking is characterised by meticulous attention to detail, from careful hand-harvesting to the precise management of fermentation and ageing. Vinification takes place in a combination of temperature-controlled concrete vats and stainless-steel tanks to preserve fruit purity. The wine is aged for 18 to 20 months in about one-fifth of new, French oak. This stage imbues the wine with complexity without overpowering its fruit. Domaine Trigant de Boisset displays ripe red fruit, subtle spice and earthy undertones framed by refined tannins and a lingering finish. This wine has excellent ageing capacity.
