Château Trotanoy, located in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux, France, boasts a rich history dating back to the early 18th century. The estate's name, often thought to derive from "Trop Ennuie" or "too much annoyance" in French, alludes to the laborious task of cultivating its vineyards due to the dense, gravelly soil. This challenging terroir, however, is precisely what imparts the distinctive character and complexity to Trotanoy's wines. Historically regarded as a pinnacle of excellence, the estate was already highly esteemed in the 19th century, with its wines fetching prices comparable to those of the First Growths. Over the centuries, Château Trotanoy has maintained its legacy of quality and prestige, continually enhancing its viticultural and winemaking practices to produce wines of extraordinary depth and elegance. The house is found near illustrious names like Pétrus and Lafleur, with vineyards that cover seven hectares. About 90% is planted to Merlot, with Cabernet Franc making up the remainder. The estate has some of the oldest vines in the region.

Château Trotanoy's wines are celebrated for their remarkable structure, depth and ageing potential. The estate's approach to winemaking prioritises precision and care, from the selection of grapes to the ageing process in French oak barrels. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete vats, followed by ageing in half-new oak barrels for up to 18 months, which imbues the wine with a subtle, integrated oak character without overshadowing the purity of the fruit. Château Trotanoy displays blackberry, plum, hints of liquorice, mocha and spice in a sumptuously textured palate with a lingering finish. This wine possesses a remarkable capacity for cellaring.
