Understanding Chateau Rouget, Pomerol, Bordeaux
The allure of Château Rouget's wines lies in their harmonious balance between power and elegance. The estate's philosophy centres on producing wines that reflect the terroir's distinct qualities, with a focus on achieving perfect ripeness and concentration in the grapes. The selective hand-harvesting of fruit, followed by meticulous sorting, guarantees that only the highest quality grapes are used in the winemaking process. Vinification is conducted with the utmost care, fermenting fruit in oak or stainless-steel with natural yeasts on a plot-by-plot basis for precise terroir expression. Ageing takes place for 18 months in one-third-new oak barrels, carefully selected for their grain and toast level, enhancing the wine's structure and depth, adding subtle notes of spice and vanilla. Château Rouget displays ripe plum, black cherry and truffle, underpinned by a delicate minerality and refined tannins. This Grand Vin has excellent cellaring potential.
