Understanding Chateau L'Evangile, Pomerol, Bordeaux
The vineyard practices at Château L'Evangile are guided by a philosophy of meticulous care and environmental responsibility, embracing both traditional and innovative techniques to cultivate the vines. The estate's unique terroir, characterised by gravelly clay and sandy soils, provides the ideal conditions for Merlot and Cabernet Franc to flourish, imparting the wines with their distinctive intensity and finesse. Selective hand-harvesting, precise sorting and gentle plot-by-plot vinification methods are employed to promote the highest quality. Ageing for 18 months in new French oak barrels enhances the wine's complexity and texture while respecting the intrinsic qualities of the fruit. This careful, artisanal approach results in a wine that is a true expression of Pomerol, distinguished by its aromatic richness and layered complexity. Château L'Evangile displays dark berry, truffle and violet, underpinned by a graceful minerality in a powerful, elegant palate with fine tannins. This wine has considerable cellaring capacity.
