Château Lafleur-Gazin, situated in the heart of the Pomerol appellation on Bordeaux's Right Bank, represents a harmonious blend of tradition and quality. Though not as ancient as some of its neighbours, this estate has quickly established itself as a noteworthy producer within the Pomerol region. Since 1976 the estate has been owned by the Borderie family, but managed by the reputable Jean-Pierre Moueix family. Château Lafleur-Gazin has been dedicated to crafting wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the Pomerol appellation. The property is strategically situated between two illustrious estates, Château Lafleur and Château Gazin, from which it draws its name, symbolising its connection to the excellence of its terroir. Its eight-and-a-half-hectare vineyard is planted four-fifths to Merlot with the remainder made up of Cabernet Franc.

The estate's first wine is a quintessential Pomerol, predominantly Merlot, with a smaller proportion of Cabernet Franc that varies according to the vintage. Château Lafleur-Gazin is recognised for producing wines that are approachable in their youth yet possess enough structure and complexity to age gracefully, showcasing the velvety texture and depth that are hallmarks of the region.

The vineyards of Château Lafleur-Gazin benefit from the fertile, iron-rich soils of Pomerol, which contribute significantly to the depth and intensity of the wine. The estate's viticultural practices are guided by a commitment to sustainability and respect for the land, ensuring that each vine is nurtured to express the fullest potential of the terroir. Vinification at the estate is carried out with precision and care, aiming to preserve the natural expression of the fruit. Fruit is meticulously sorted and fermented in a combination of concrete and stainless steel to preserve fruit purity. Ageing takes place for 18 to 120 months in French oak barrels, a quarter of which is new. allows for the development of a wine that is both refined and expressive, with a balance of fruit, acidity and tannins that is exemplary of Pomerol's esteemed wines. Château Lafleur-Gazin features ripe red and black fruit, subtle hints of liquorice and earth in a rich and smooth palate with refined tannins. This wine has the potential to evolve gracefully over time.
