The estate, with its origins dating back to the 1980s, might be younger than its acclaimed neighbours but has quickly established a reputation for producing wines of extraordinary quality and character. Born from the parcels of Château La Croix de Gay, the estate focuses exclusively on the most expressive and qualitative parts of their terroir. The Raynaud-Lebreton family, with deep roots in the region and a profound understanding of Pomerol’s unique conditions, has been the guiding force behind this prestigious label. Their commitment to expressing the nuanced complexity of their land has positioned La Fleur de Gay at the forefront of Pomerol winemaking. After its first vintage in 1980, the wine featured some Cabernet Franc, but it’s now entirely Merlot.

Understanding Chateau La Fleur de Gay, Pomerol, Bordeaux
The estate practices sustainable viticulture, ensuring that each vine is given the care and attention needed to express the full potential of the terroir. This dedication extends to the cellar, where traditional winemaking techniques are employed alongside modern innovations to preserve the wine's integrity and authenticity. The estate's meticulous approach to viticulture and vinification ensures that each bottle captures the essence of its origins. Grapes are hand-harvested to ensure only the best see vinification. Fermentation takes place in traditional concrete vats to preserve fruit purity. This is followed by maturation in entirely new French oak for 18 months. This Grand Vin features ripe black fruit, truffle and violets in a palate that marries intensity with finesse. The lush, velvety texture is supported by a backbone of finely-grained tannins, indicative of the wine's capacity for graceful ageing.
