Understanding Chateau La Cabanne, Pomerol, Bordeaux

Château La Cabanne's vineyards are meticulously managed with an emphasis on environmental sustainability, ensuring that the practices employed contribute to the health of the vineyard ecosystem. The terroir, a rich blend of gravel and clay soils, provides the ideal foundation for cultivating Merlot and Cabernet Franc, imparting the wines with their distinctive intensity and aromatic complexity. The winemaking process at Château La Cabanne is characterised by precision and care with selective hand-harvesting of the grapes. Vinification takes place in small traditional, temperature-controlled, conical-shaped stainless-steel vats to promote fruit purity. The wine ages in 60% new French oak for about 15 months. This approach results in wines that are not only expressive of their origin but also possess a remarkable capacity for ageing, gradually unveiling layers of flavour and nuance over time. Château La Cabanne features deep fruit, notes of spice, liquorice and a subtle earthiness in a rich and full-bodied palate with silky tannins. This powerfully structured wine has excellent cellaring capacity.
