Château Gazin, located in the renowned Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux, traces its origins back to the 15th century, making it one of the oldest properties in Pomerol. Historically, the land where Gazin now sits was part of the Hospice de Pomerol, which catered to pilgrims en route to Santiago de Compostela. Over the centuries, Gazin has been witness to the evolution of the Pomerol region into a world-class winemaking area. The estate cultivates a 26-hectare vineyard located on one of the region’s highest plateaus. More than 85% of the plot is planted to Merlot alongside a few rows of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Owned and meticulously managed by the Bailliencourt dit Courcol family for several generations, Château Gazin has established itself as a premier producer, neighbouring the iconic Château Pétrus. This illustrious positioning underscores Gazin’s commitment to quality and excellence in viticulture.

The vineyard of Château Gazin is characterised by its rich clay and gravel soils. These soils are ideal for Merlot, the predominant grape variety, contributing to the wine's signature richness and depth. The estate’s vineyard management practices are a blend of tradition and innovation, with a strong emphasis on environmental stewardship. The average age of the vines at Gazin is about 40 years, adding complexity and intensity to the grapes. Grapes are handpicked and meticulously sorted, ensuring only the highest quality fruit is used. The varietals are fermented individually in small concrete vats to preserve their unique characteristics for a precise and expressive wine. Following blending, the wine ages in French oak barrels. This careful oak integration allows the wine to develop added layers of complexity without overpowering the inherent fruit character. Château Gazin displays ripe black fruit, notes of truffles, violet and a hint of oak in an opulent palate with supple tannins. This wine possesses the structure to age gracefully over time.
