Understanding Chateau Enclos Tourmaline, Pomerol, Bordeaux

The vineyard of Château Enclos Tourmaline is planted on the famed clay and gravel soils of Pomerol, ideal for cultivating high-quality Merlot grapes. The estate’s commitment to sustainable viticulture and meticulous vineyard management ensures the health and balance of the vines, some of which are notably old, adding complexity to the grapes. Winemaking at Château Enclos Tourmaline is characterised by an artisanal approach, with an emphasis on precision and detail. The grapes are handpicked at optimal ripeness and undergo rigorous sorting. Fermentation takes place in state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring the perfect environment to extract the best qualities of the fruit. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 18 months, a process that is carefully monitored to achieve the perfect balance between the wine’s natural character and the influence of the oak. This results in a wine that is not only a luxurious representation of Pomerol’s esteemed terroir but also a testament to Château Enclos Tourmaline’s dedication to excellence in every aspect of its winemaking. Château Enclos Tourmaline displays dark fruit intertwined with notes of truffle, chocolate and a hint of vanilla in a velvety palate with balanced tannins. This wine has considerable cellaring capacity.
