Understanding Prelude a Grand-Puy Ducasse, Pauillac, Bordeaux
The grapes for Prélude à Grand-Puy Ducasse are sourced from the younger vines of the Château Grand-Puy Ducasse vineyards. These vineyards are characterised by the gravel-rich soils typical of the Pauillac region, contributing to the development of the wine's robust character and flavour complexity. The vineyard management focuses on sustainable practices, ensuring the health and quality of the vines and grapes. Grapes are carefully selected and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, preserving fruit purity. The wine ages in 15%-new French oak barrels, adding layers of complexity and subtle oak while maintaining the approachability of the wine. Prélude à Grand-Puy Ducasse displays ripe black fruit, hints of vanilla and spice in an elegant palate with smooth tannins and balanced acidity. This wine is excellent for short-term ageing.
