Understanding Chateau Ferriere 3eme Cru Classe, Margaux, Bordeaux

The vineyards of Château Ferriere thrive on the classic gravelly soils of Margaux, providing optimal conditions for the cultivation of its primary varietals. The estate's commitment to sustainable practices reflects a deep respect for the land and a dedication to expressing the true character of the terroir. The vineyard's age, with some vines over 40 years old, contributes significantly to the concentration and depth of flavour in the grapes. The grapes are meticulously handpicked and sorted, ensuring only the highest quality fruit is used. Fermentation takes place in a mix of traditional oak vats and stainless-steel tanks, followed by ageing in French oak barrels. This careful approach allows the wine to develop a nuanced complexity while preserving the purity and elegance of the fruit. This Grand Vin features black fruit, cassis and undertones of earth and cedar in a harmonious palate with finessed tannins. This wine is approachable in youth yet possesses the intricacy and strength to age beautifully, unfolding new layers of complexity over time.
