Château Angludet, an acclaimed estate in the famous Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, boasts a rich history that dates back several centuries. This historic estate, with its 32 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot and classic Bordeaux architecture, has witnessed the evolution of the region’s winemaking traditions. The house’s location is just under two miles from the Garonne River and the mouth of the Gironde estuary which leads to the Atlantic Oceana and the Bay of Biscay. This situation allows for cooling breezes which temper the vines during the growing season. The Sichel family, current custodians of the château since the 1960s, have played a pivotal role in revitalising and expanding its vineyards and modernising its facilities, all while preserving the estate's historic charm and winemaking ethos. Their stewardship has seen Château Angludet reemerge as a producer of some of the most elegant and expressive wines in Margaux. Owing to the estate being split up in a family inheritance, for geographical reasons it couldn’t be included in the esteemed 1855 Bordeaux classification. Despite this, its wines are critically lauded and sought-after. In 1981, Château Angludet joined the prestigious Union des Grands Crus Classés de Bordeaux.

Château Angludet’s vineyards are a tapestry of Margaux’s famed gravelly soils, which provide excellent drainage and contribute to the intensity and refinement of the grapes. Grapes are carefully harvested and undergo rigorous selection to ensure only the finest berries are used. Fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel and concrete vats, allowing for precise temperature control and preservation of the fruit’s character. The wine is then aged in one-third new French oak barrels, with a careful balance of new and used wood to ensure the oak influence enhances rather than overshadows the wine’s natural attributes.
