Understanding Yvon Metras, Fleurie, Beaujolais
This exceptional Beaujolais Cru wine is crafted exclusively from Gamay grapes, sourced from old vines that thrive in the granite-rich soils characteristic of Fleurie. The unique terroir imparts an unmistakable minerality and elegance to the grapes, which are cultivated using organic and biodynamic practices. This approach ensures a harmonious balance within the vineyard ecosystem and results in grapes of exceptional quality and character. The grapes are handpicked with meticulous care to preserve their integrity and the wine's nuanced profile. Yvon Métras employs a traditional winemaking approach, including fermentation with natural yeasts which adds complexity and a sense of place to the wine. This is followed by ageing in older barrels, allowing the wine to develop and mature without overpowering the delicate Gamay flavours. Yvon Métras Fleurie features ripe red fruit, floral notes, notes of spice and a distinctive minerality in a silky, elegant palate. This Beaujolais Cru has the capacity for graceful ageing.
