The vineyards of Giaconda are ideally situated in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, where the unique terroir and microclimate contribute significantly to the distinctive character of the Chardonnay grapes. The combination of cool temperatures, ample sunlight, and diverse soil profiles in Beechworth allows for the development of Chardonnay grapes with concentrated flavours and balanced acidity. The vinification process is set up for gravity flow to promote the purity of fruit expression. Fruit is hand-picked to ensure only the finest is used. Grapes are then lightly crushed and basket pressed before fermentation and ageing in 30% new French oak. Wines are not filtered before bottling to enhance varietal, vintage and terroir expression. Giaconda Chardonnay features citrus, stone fruit and subtle toast in a rich yet refined palate with vibrant acidity. This wine has excellent ageing potential.
