Vineyard and Terroir: The grapes for Yalumba Octavius are sourced from some of the oldest Shiraz vineyards in Barossa Valley, known for its warm climate and rich, fertile soils. These conditions are ideal for growing Shiraz grapes that yield concentrated flavours and robust tannins, creating a wine with incredible depth and character. Yalumba Octavius is noted for its unique maturation process. The wine is aged for 21 months in a combination of differently-sized oak barrels including vessels known as 'octaves', which are significantly smaller than the standard size. The use of both new and old oak barrels adds layers of spice, vanilla and toast to the wine's profile. This Shiraz features dark fruit, hints of chocolate, liquorice and spicy oak. This wine is renowned for its exceptional ageing potential.
