Les Amis Grenache is sourced from ancient Grenache vines planted in the 19th century in the Barossa Valley. These old vines, deeply rooted in the sandy soils of the valley, yield grapes of extraordinary concentration and character. Torbreck has a minimal interventionist approach to Les Amis. Grapes are hand-harvested and undergo gentle processing to preserve their delicate flavours. Fermentation is carried out in a combination of wooden and stainless steel open-top fermenters with regular punch-downs to enhance colour and tannin extraction. The wine matures in new French oak, where it develops added layers of complexity while maintaining fruit purity. Torbreck Les Amis Grenache exhibits rich red fruit complemented by spice notes, lavender and subtle oak hints in a silky palate with fine tannins that provide structure and depth. This wine, while approachable in its youth, has an excellent capacity for cellaring.
